Children rate playgrounds primarily according to their play value. Modern facilities are spacious, have areas for all age groups and offer varied play opportunities. The manufacturers of play equipment develop ever larger and more unusual play landscapes for climbing, sliding, swinging, jumping and balancing. For insurance reasons, safety is a criterion that is at least as important for operators of public and private playgrounds as the design. Fall protection is of particular importance here.
In principle, all impact-absorbing materials can be used as safety surfaces. However, special requirements apply depending on the size and fall height of the play equipment. Fall protection surfaces and elastic moulded parts offer an effective solution in this case. They provide weatherproof fall protection for playgrounds and recreational facilities, for fall heights of up to 3 m. Jointless safety surfaces are available in many different colours to create individual solutions. They are laid in-situ and can be used to form hills, hollows, waves and channels. These jointless safety surfaces comprise a highly elastic base and a colour-fast EPDM top layer. Synthetic turf with fall protection properties is another alternative. It is robust, low-maintenance and hardly differs from natural turf in appearance or feel.
