Trend Sport Padel Tennis

Padel tennis originated in Spanish-speaking countries and is becoming increasingly popular in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The sport combines elements of tennis and squash on a compact court.

The court measures around 10 x 20 metres, is surrounded by glass walls and is usually played in doubles. A net divides the court and the rules are similar to those of tennis, with the special feature that the walls can be included in the game.

The simple style of play and moderate requirements make padel tennis suitable for players of all ages. Many tennis clubs see padel courts as a useful addition to their programme that appeals to both experienced players and beginners.

The advantages of a padel tennis court

Padel combines the best of tennis and squash. Players of all ages can get started quickly as the rules are easy to learn and the court is more compact. Here are some of the advantages:

  1. Attractive for clubs and leisure centres: Padel courts attract new members and create a modern addition to traditional tennis courts.
  2. More fun to play: The rallies are more intense, which leads to more dynamics and tension.
  3. Low space requirement: Padel courts require less space than tennis courts, which makes them ideal for locations with limited space.

Costs for the Construction of a Padel Court

How much does a padel tennis court cost?

Costs vary depending on size, location and equipment. Typical factors that influence the costs:

  • Materials: Glass walls, artificial turf, steel structures.
  • Location: Preparation of the subsoil and necessary earthworks.
  • Accessories: Lighting, nets and player furniture.

Price range: The investment is usually between €20,000 and €40,000 per court.

In addition, operating costs such as electricity for lighting and regular maintenance can be factored in. A well thought-out concept can save costs in the long term and increase the profitability of your system.

Financial returns of a padel court

The cost of building a padel court can be offset by the income from renting it out. According to the German Tennis Association, the average hourly rate for using a padel court is around €32.

However, the actual income depends on factors such as location, opening hours, capacity utilisation and additional services such as equipment hire. In heavily frequented regions, occupancy rates of up to 80 % can be achieved, which means that the investment often pays for itself within a few years.

A padel court is a long-term investment. Careful planning and the use of high-quality materials during construction and installation are crucial to ensure the durability of the facility and playing comfort.

Frequently Asked Questions about Padel Court Construction (FAQ)

How much space is needed for a padel court?

A standard court has a playing field size of 10×20 metres. However, an additional 1 metre of space is required on the outside for accessories and safety. In a hall, a ceiling height of at least 8 metres is required for trouble-free operation.

    What maintenance work is required?

Regular cleaning of the artificial turf (removal of dirt, debris etc. by hand or leaf blower and, in the case of heavier soiling, by using a water hose or high-pressure cleaner). Depending on the intensity of use, it may be necessary to re-sand the turf after a certain period of time. In addition to maintaining the artificial turf, checking the glass walls (e.g. tightening the screws) also ensures a long service life.

How high are the operating costs of a padel court?

Operating costs are low and mainly include electricity for lighting and minimal maintenance costs.

What revenue does a padel court generate?

As padel tennis is usually played by four players, the average hourly rate for using a padel court is €32 - depending on the location and time of day.
