The '60s and '70s

The Early Years

A start-up for building materials makes its mark

In 1960, Leopold Bermüller founded Bermüller & Co from his private home, launching a business focused on the trade of bulk materials and construction products.

The first employees were hired and the company soon moved into proper office space.

A three-person team began distributing materials for landscaping, sports field construction, railway and civil engineering – from bulk goods like sand, gravel and crushed stone to readymix concrete and paving stones, as well as sports field construction materials. With the growing tennis boom, demand also rose for tennis court equipment – and the company delivered.

The '80s and '90s

A Time of Growth

BECO BERMÜLLER on course for growth

BECO BERMÜLLER expanded and moved to Rotterdamer Straße in Nuremberg, where the company is still headquartered today.
The LOB Tennis brand was launched and quickly became a major success.

The business areas of geosynthetics and sports field construction materials were added and by the mid-1990s, the company ventured into a new segment: safety surfacing.

In 1987, the company was converted into a GmbH (limited liability company) and in 1988, Rudolf Bermüller succeeded his father as Managing Director. By the end of the 1990s, the company achieved its first ISO certification.

The 2000s and 2010s

Strategic Expansion

Rooted in tradition – embracing the digital future

The world is becoming faster and more digital. To ensure fast product availability, BECO BERMÜLLER builds its own warehouse at the Nuremberg site.

The number of employees continues to grow and an additional office floor is added.

In 2013, Stefan Bermüller joins the management team. His commitment to the well-being of the team is reflected in the development of a company-wide health management program, which is certified by AOK in 2019 as a “Healthy Company.”

2020s and beyond

Climate change and its associated challenges are also a key concern for us. In 2021, our environmental management system was certified according to ISO 14001.

In the field of geosynthetics, we are driving forward innovative solutions for sustainable and resource-efficient construction – supported by our in-house application engineering team, which also develops new products such as flood protection systems.
