Small playing fields
Small pitches are a popular and cost-effective type of sports facility. They can be created in schoolyards, playgrounds and green areas or in the vicinity of larger sports fields. They usually have perimeter boards and synthetic turf or a multifunctional sports surface. Sometimes small pitches are even covered or are designed from the outset as an indoor version with several playing areas.
The size of the playing field is variable. It ranges from 15 x 10 m for three-a-side football to 40 x 20 m (seven-a-side). Smaller facilities are particularly useful for temporary use and events. In the case of permanent facilities, a certain minimum size is advisable, especially if they are to be used for hockey, handball or basketball as well as football. Synthetic turf is particularly suitable as a playing surface, as it is easy to maintain and weather resistant. In principle, however, any type of sports surfacing is possible. The mini pitches can also have rubber sports surfaces, for example, or jointless surfacing. For maximum fun, environmental protection and as a prerequisite for staging competitions, high-quality perimeter board systems can be installed. These prevent problematic ball returns and provide an uninterrupted advertising surface. The boards can also be supplemented with ball stop netting. The board systems are available as permanent systems and as mobile versions.
